"Comic Book Man"...

I know what your thinking, great name for a character right?  I went into this drawing just to have fun, I designed him on the fly. Just having fun with it. This is my first attempt at a superhero-style character probably since I was in high school. I'm going to try to spit out more of these while I'm waiting for freelance to pick back up.

Evil Mandril...

I did this representation of a Mandril with brush pen when I was at the zoo.
I tried to convey what was on his mind, I'm lucky there was a mote and fence between me and him!

Horses from the petting zoo

These where done from life using brushes and inks.
I used white out for the spots below...
Sketching in washes really helps you to gain confidence, it breaks your inhibitions about producing beautiful drawings.
You are forced to give up control and let the medium work for you.

Elephants at the zoo...

These are some elephants playing and hanging out at the zoo.
I used a Tombow brush pen for these in my sketchbook.

Figures in charcoal

Two female nudes done in vine charcoal.
I love to work in vine charcoal and marker because it's bold on white paper.
These where done on 16 field animation paper

Another example of ruff to clean-up animation...

A great example of ruff and clean-up animation
The ruff animation was done by French animator Jean-Claude Tran.
Clean-Up animation by me

A series of costumed models from a drawing class

During these sessions, I was thinking more about stylizing the costumed models.
The drawing above was done with a graphite pencil of a costumed model during a figure drawing session.
A drawing from the same session as the one above it done on 16 field animation paper.
A different model, again I used a graphite pencil on 16 field animation paper.

Lizard Guards, Clean-Up from "Lilo and Stitch"

Lizard Guards, Clean-Up from "Lilo and Stitch" from Patrick Tuorto on Vimeo.
Lizard Guards from "Lilo and Stitch" Phil Noto, Don Crumb, along with myself helped to clean up this scene. We were part of the Clean-Up crew that drew all the other crazy alien creatures on the show. I re-shot the stack of drawings into Flash and timed it out according to it's charts.
